A CIRCLING ACTION

Date: 7th June 1944

While the 29th American Division entered Isigny without meeting any resistance, the 101st Paratroopers were unlucky enough to meet the German 6th Fallschirmjäger on the road to Carentan.
In fact in the village of St. Come du Mont, the 101st was pushed back after some fierce combat.
The American forces retreated and only the following day they managed to break the German defenses thanks to the actions of a detachment that went around the town.

101st Parachute Division

Duties: Commander, machine-gunner (exposed), driver, 2 radio operators
Note: Open-topped vehicle, bullet-proof tyres, diesel, weapon support
